Archie Lee Bender was born to the late Johnnie Bender Sr. and Dessie Mae Wilson Bender on June 14, 1949, in Logansport, La.
He departed this life on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Good Shepherd Medical Center.
He graduated from Mary C. Womack High in 1967. After graduation he moved to New York City, New York and enrolled in New York City College. While attending college he worked for Atlantic Record Company.
In 1969, he was drafted and served three years in the United States Army and took part in the Vietnam War. At the end of his tour he was honorably discharged and he went back to New York City for several years until he made his way back to Longview, Tx. and resided here until his untimely demise.
Archie was a very giving ,loving and caring person who would always help others. He always had a smile on his face.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Dessie Bender, brother ,Dennis G. Bender, sister Mary Bender , nephews ,Desi Bender, Jermaine Hampton, Harry Beall Jr. and Da' Coreyan Blankenship.
He leaves to cherish his memories sisters: Virginia L. Beall ; Kaye D. Jackson( Hosie) ; Caroline J. Adams ; Carlene S. Watts (Manuel Sr.) all of Longview, Tx ; Priscilla Green of Houston, Tx ; Ola Mae Bender of Fort Worth, Tx ; and Josie Bender of Logansport, La. brothers: Johnny L. Bender Jr. and David N. Bender Sr. of Longview, Tx ; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.. Special friend ; Joan Claudette Perry of Newark, New Jersey.
