Ellis Brown, Jr. was born November 17, 1937 in Longview, Texas to Azar Crowe Brown and Ellis Brown Sr. At an early age he was called to be a Messenger for the Lord. He delivered his first sermon at the age of 11. He was later drafted into the U.S. Army and served a period of time for our country. After this time, he met Mary Ann Leadon. On July 22,1958, they united in Holy Matrimony. To this union 9 children were born.
He was a hard worker and provided for his family. He was an entrepreneur by design. He owned and operated Brown TV & Radio Repair (Record Shop) for a period of time. He was also employed by LeBus Manufacturing Co. and retired from Tyler Pipe after 32 years of service.
Throughout all his employment venture, he continued his commission to serve the Lord as Pastor of Sherman Chapel Baptist Church. He later made his home as Pastor of Swancy Street Missionary Baptist Church. He was relentless in communicating the word of God, even as his health declined.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years Mary Ann Leadon Brown, parents, brother Howard Brown Sr. and sister Lovis Brown Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memories, children: Darren, Patrick, Gifford (Ailsa), Yolanda (Fred), Velma (Charles), Rhonda (Michael), Ellison, Cordero (Sandra) all Longview TX, Jason (Sabrina) of McKinney, TX; 1 adopted son, Howard (Sevda) of Miami, FL; 52 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren ; 1 brother, Glover C. (Linda) Brown of Mansfield, TX, 1 sister, Velma B. Walker of Phoenix, AZ; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a special step relative, Sandra Kennedy.
