Mrs. Ethel LaRue Carpenter

October 8, 1951 — March 5, 2018

Ethel Larue Snoddy, was born October 8, 1951 in Longview, Texas to Mattie Joyce Hawkins and Thomas Snoddy, who loved her very much and parented her and poured into her life. Ethel was loved so much that she was also adopted and parented by Lillian Augusta Small and GP Small. She attended Southside Elementary, Maggie B. Hudson Jr. High and she graduated from Longview High School. She also received an Associate's Degree from Tyler Jr. College and attended Texas Women's University. Ethel married Theo Carpenter on 12/22/1972 and they remained married until her passing. She leaves behind four children, Shelicia Smith, Meredith Carpenter Black, John Carpenter and Darrielle Petty. Ethel was an avid reader, who was caring and loved God.
Ethel is survived by Mattie Hawkins, her children, her spouse, Theo Carpenter, and siblings, Ricky Hawkins, Rochaun Hawkins, Michael Hawkins, Bruce Hawkins, Robert Hawkins, Eric Hawkins, Trent Hawkins, Tammy Collins, Gay Snoddy, Kay Snoddy, Cynthia Smith, Quevette Snoddy and a deceased sibling, Tonya Collins. Ethel also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren who will live and preserve her legacy.
