THE LIFE SHE LIVED
On August 21, 1928, the Baker Family was highly favored with a baby girl who they named Ettra Mae (Mae). Ettra Mae and her two brothers, Brazell and A. J., and sister, Francis were raised in Longview, TX by their rnother, Alberta Baker.
Ettra was a sweet, loving child, and she kept this spirit throughout her life. She was educated in the Longview Colored Schools in Longview.
Ms. Baker was rnarried to Linzie Martin Sr. They were blessed with one son, Linzie Martin, Jr.
Ms. Baker was a very sweet and caring person, and lived a life of Christian service. She was a long time member of New Bethel Baptist Church of Longview, and later moved her membership to New Jerusalem in 1993 under Pastor James Wall, Senior. She continued to faithfully serve here under the leadership of Reverend, Doctor C. R. Wall (Pastor Carlton) until her death.
Ettra Mae's life sf service also extended into the community . She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. ln her career, Ms. Baker brightened the days for many patients and family members as she worked as a friendly housekeeper at Good Shepherd Hospital where she retired.
Ettra Mae was preceded in death by her mother, Ms. Alberta Baker, her husband, Linzie Martin, Sr., and her three siblings, Brazell, A.J-. and Francis.
She left this earth bound for her reward in Glory on February 28, 2017.
Those left behind to cherish her memories include her son, Linzie Martin Jr. of the Longview, Tx. and a host of loved ones and special friends including Jamar Martin, Demetra Webb, Tasha Brown, Candice Gregory, Samira Webb, Doneshia Madden, Seleste and Christopher Brown, Wanda Brown, Wanda Williams, Landon Hurd, Sharhona Hurd, Veola Riggins, Ophelia Gregory, Lester Broughton, Bobbie and Will Pegues, and the New Jerusalem Church Family.
