Katrina Dawn Mitchell Clayton was born Sunday, August 26, 1973, to the parentage of George Dewey Mitchell Jr. and Frances Mae Gray of Longview, TX. She departed this life on April 1, 2022, in Longview, TX.

She was raised in Longview,TX, and was a lifelong resident. She was educated in both Longview and Pine Tree Independent School Districts. Attending Ware Elementary during her early and middle childhood years, but later attended Pine Tree Schools where she was recognized for being an honor roll student, a Globe Scholar, UIL Scholar, and U.S. Army Reserve Scholar and an award recipient for all three. Katrina also played Volleyball for the Pine Tree Pirates and Softball for LGSA where she was First and Second Team All-District and selected to the TAAF Games of Texas All-State Tournament. She received her general studies diploma from Pine Tree High School in 1991. She continued her studies and higher education at Letourneau University, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1995.

At an early age, Katrina Dawn Mitchell Clayton joined St. James Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend E.M. Hooper in Longview, TX. As a young girl, she was very witty, smart, talented, and outgoing. If you knew her knew she moved to the beat of her own drum. She kept her parents busy as she attended the Joan Fuller Academy of Dance and Twirl, being featured in many productions for Jazz, Tap, Ballet, and Twirl. She was also a part of the Longview Girls Softball Association in her adolescent years, where she pitched and played as a first baseman.

In her later years, after receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Letourneau University, She moved to the DFW Metroplex, obtaining a job at Brinker International (Restaurant Company) in Dallas,Tx where she was the Senior Disbursement Associate in Operations. She also became a mother to a beautiful daughter Tiara Mae Simpson in 1998. After working in Dallas for many years she moved back to Longview, TX where she accepted a job in administration for Halliburton briefly. She was employed by the City of Kilgore, TX for the Kilgore Police Department for 9 years and more recently for the City of Longview, TX as the AP Payment Manager.

She has a love for her family, continuous education, reading, and cooking. She owned so many recipes; she could've started her own cookbook. But there was nothing she was more passionate about than her daughter and grandsons. Katrina took her role of being a mother and grandmother very seriously. She nurtured and loved her daughter and boys with her last breath, and they adored her even more.

Katrina was preceded in death by her Grandfather: George Dewey Mitchell Sr; Grandmother: Ida Mae Willis(Mitchell); Grandfather: Hamond Gray Jr.:Grandmother: Mattie Lee Terrell Gray, and a host of other uncles, aunts, cousins, and loved ones.

Katrina leaves behind to cherish her heartfelt memory, her parents: Frances Gray Mitchell and George Dewey Mitchell Jr. of Longview, TX; One daughter: Tiara Mae Simpson of Longview, TX; One brother: Christopher Mitchell of Houston,TX; Two Grandsons: Christian and Jayden Simpson of Longview, TX; Three Nieces: NaTaysha Mitchell of Richardson, TX; Raven and McKenzie Mitchell of Houston, TX; One Nephew: Xavier (Trivicia) Mitchell of Fort Worth, TX; and Special companion: Anthony Johnson of Longview, TX. As well as a host of other relatives and loved ones.
