Life Epitome of Sister Lovie Lee
Lovie Bridges Lee was born January 2, 1937, to the parentage of Eli Bridges Sr. and Opal Odessa Brackens-Bridges.
She attended the Longview Public Schools, graduating from the Longview Negro High School Class of 1955. Lovie had an interest in seeing other cities, she moved to Dallas, Texas, that same year.
In 1984,Lovie Lee Bridges was united in Holy Matrimony to Jarvis Dewayne Lee and became Lovie Lee. She and her husband moved to Longview in 1992. She worked for several different companies, her last employer being Asbury Development Center in the Culinary Department until she had a stroke on November16,2016. She was recognized in 2015,by former President Barak Obama for being a faithful member of the Democratic Party.
She was a member of True Believer's Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. James Shans. Sister Lee was a charter member, Sunday School Teacher/ Supt. Church Clerk, Devotional Leader, Choir Member and worked in the Hospitality Department.
Sister Lovie was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, her brother, Robert Willis and her sister, Annie Jewel Hunter.
Sister Lovie Lee departed this life on Tuesday, March 14, 2017. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Jarvis D. Lee; four brothers, Elder Eli Bridges, Elder Charles (Erma) Bridges, John (Mary) Bridges and Willie (Sandra) Fitzpatrick;( two sisters,, Dorothy (Supt. Curtis) Slay and Pauline (Winston) Jackson; two brothers-in-law, Ronald Lee and Thomas Lowe; sister-in-law, Rochelle Lee; God-children, Darlene and Walter Kelly, and Deion Sanders; a very special 1st cousin that was more like a sister, Ms. Dorothy Faggans ; close friend, Martha Hilton; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
