Robert Chester Madden was born on February 3, 1952, to Willie George Madden and Willie Mae Madden of Longview, Texas.
In his early years, Robert attended Parkview Baptist Church. He grew up in the southern district of Longview, Texas (Southside); and attended schools in Longview Independent School District. Robert was a graduating member of Mary C. Womack High School Class of 1970.
He was married to Lynette "Nee" Colbert for five years and from their union, the couple shared one son, Derek Madden. For many years, Robert had a successful industrial career at Kilgore Ceramics. In addition, his early career included serving as a cook for Madden's Fine Food Restaurant.
He was affectionately known to many by his nicknames: Duke and Big Doo. While large in statue, Robert forever possessed a kind heart.
He is preceded in death by his father Willie George Madden, mother Willie Mae Madden, and brothers- Cecil Madden, Charles Madden, Lonnie Madden, George Henry Madden, Paul Lawrence Madden, and sister-in-law Katherine Madden.
He is survived by a son, Derek (Kendra) Madden of Arlington, TX, grandchildren: Jamal Madden, Taylor Madden, and Josh Madden; siblings: Vallie Merl Madden (N.B.) Rogers of Dallas, TX, Annie Pearl Johnson of Longview, TX, Louis (Omia) Madden of Longview, TX, Doris Richardson of Dallas, TX, James Madden of Longview, TX, Augusta Madden of Longview, TX, Ora (Lonnie) Starks of Dallas, TX; sisters-in-law: Betty Madden and Linda Madden Thomas and a host of relatives.
