Ruthie Lee Mccoy Brown
"The Queen of Beaumont St."
There will never be another like Ruthie Lee or My Dear as we(her grandchildren )affectionately call her. Dear was born April 10, 1938, in Henderson, Texas. She endured a world of hardships, prejudice and hard work many of us could never fathom.
She was welcomed into this world by her parents Elizabeth Polk Mccoy and James Fate Mccoy and her 5 older siblings; Maxine, Albert, James Jr, Baby Ray and Willie Jean.
After the untimely passing of her parents, she moved to Longview with her Aunt DoCee.
Dear later married and had one son Eric Brown. Dear had a personality that was infectious. She never hesitated to help someone: if she had it you had it. If she could feed you, clothe you whatever she had to offer she did.
She worked for many years as a caretaker for many of the elders in and around her neighborhood of Beaumont St. Her kind spirit and nature will forever be missed.
Dear lived her life her way by her own rules. She was fearless.
Ruthie leaves to cherish her memory her son, Eric Brown Sr;her brother, Albert McCoy: her grandchildren; Monica 'Nudie' Brown, Amber Kohle, Eric Brown Jr,( Gerry Lydia Jr, LeDarrin Lydia and A'lesia Kohle); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
The staff of Citizens Funeral Home/T.L. Knighton Jr. will keep you and your family in our prayers.
